Teacher Training is Essential for Building Technology: Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb

C.B.Desk: Online teacher training program is a timely and essential initiative to build technology-driven skilled human resources. Through this program, students from remote areas of the country will also have equal access to learning opportunities.
This was stated by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, while delivering the Chief Guest’s speech at the closing ceremony of the three-day workshop titled “Online Training Content Development for Teachers”, organized today, as part of the implementation of the ICT curriculum of the National University. He also emphasized the importance of digitalizing student assessment systems.
The workshop was organized by the National University, with technical support from the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Programme, ICT Division, and UNICEF Bangladesh.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University. The guests included Mohammad Abdur Rafiq, Project Director, a2i Programme; Deepa Shankar, Chief of Education, UNICEF Bangladesh; Professor Md. Lutfar Rahman and Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellors of the National University; and Abdullah Al Fahim, Head of Management, a2i Programme.
During the event, Afzal Hossain Sarwar, Head of Future of Education, a2i Programme, presented an overview of the ICT teacher training activities included in the National University syllabus.
Throughout the three-day workshop, officials from the National University, ICT teachers, teachers’ trainers, online training design and content development experts, and representatives from UNICEF Bangladesh and the a2i Programme actively participated.
The outcomes and recommendations from this workshop are expected to play a vital role in the successful implementation of the mandatory ICT course introduced at the undergraduate (Honours) first-year level under the National University.
The training modules and contents developed during the workshop will be incorporated into the national e-learning platform ‘Muktopaath’ to facilitate online training for teachers.
Participants expressed their optimism that this initiative will open a new horizon of technology-driven modern education for teachers and students of colleges affiliated with the National University.
